Mr. K Ramakrishna on the various projects along with its impact

The very first important project of NAB is education. Under this education we fund various integrated education schemes through our partnership agencies all over the countries where in we ensure that the visually impaired child is integrated with the other children in the schools so that they does not have to adjustment problems later. Now we are promoting the concept of inclusive education also wherein we are trying to say that with the same infrastructure all the students the visually impaired child also can be integrated

As a part of education, as a main activity we also supply the text books journals, general reading material in Braille code. So this is another important activity of NAB. Thirdly we also produce audio books in our recording studio either in form of a CD or tap. People can take these books general books and text books etc and go through these books. We are basically helping the visually impaired person not only in education but also in the information technology. The second area is prevention, through our various eye-camps and with the support of medical professionals we are ensuring where all possible the preventable blindness

Our other area is women welfare department where we give job opportunities to the visually impaired ladies particularly to those who come form the lower strata of society. They produce ceratin gift products, which we try to market to coporates
We have an home for the aged visually impaired in Lonawala, wherein we try to take care of them

As a support services all these activities as I mentioned earlier, we have Braille production center, talking book studio, we also ensure the visually impaired has a right to entertainment. So we have a cyber café, where he can come and use the internet to send and receive mails. The response have been very good

Through education we have been successful from promoting education to a visually impaired to a very large extent.
One last project I should mention is employment. We have been successful in getting at least 7,000 thousand jobs till now and it is our job to economically rehabilitate the visually impaired

We have rehabilitation center, where newly visually impaired are trained on personal hygiene, getting used to various other things, particularly for those people who have turned blind at a later stage of their life.
