Mr
Ramakrishna’s view on how to observe
the World Braille Day
Invention of Braille code by Sir Louis Braille
200 years before, still remains the greatest
discovery in the life of visually impaired
people. It has helped in education, training,
vocational rehabilitation as also on their
profession. That being the case a major contribution
has been made by someone in their life is
very important for us to commemorate
this. How do we do it? The institution and
agencies involved in the welfare of visually
impaired person should ensure that Braille
will continue to remain the medium of communication
between the blind person and the outside
world. Today there are lots of technologies
available but institution should work towards
Braille. Because Braille among other things
also gives the greatest amount of input
to a visually impaired person that helps
the individual to develop the language as
well as career
Secondly we should promote the usage of
Braille in public places like airport, railway
station and other public places for the
visually impaired person to move and lead
a independent life without any support
Thirdly, while using other technology but
libraries and other school and technologies
involved in the welfare of the visually
impaired person should be conscious of the
fact the advantages of Braille and ensure
that Braille remains the most important
support
Fourthly I would say the corporate's should
help the institution involved in the benefit
of visually impaired person as because printing
and distributing of Braille is a very expensive
matter. For a normal matter in one page
takes three page in Braille and also the
per square cm of Braille has to three time
heavier than normal paper. The cost of printing
of Braille page is almost 7 to 8 times as
compared to normal paper. So we need lot
of subsidy in publishing these Braille materials,
we request the corporate's to help us in
subsiding the rate.
