Akshara Foundation believes in
partnership with Government. All our remedial
programs whether it is maths or reading, we have
been working with government schoolteachers. The
schoolteachers help us in implementing the programs.
Akshara understand the needs and
identifies a model closely linked to the school
curriculum. We work with schoolteachers in conducting
a pilot and train the master trainers. After which
the schoolteachers roll on the program. By doing
this, we are actually able to scale up the program
and reach thousands of children within the same
academic year.
Our reading program has covered
four hundred and seventy thousand children and
maths program has reached fifty four thousand
children covering all schools across Bangalore.
We strongly believe in assessing
the impacts of our programs. Therefore all our
models have a pre-test and a post-test component.
Through which we are able to report the progress
of every child who has undertaken our program.
The results of the interventions are available
on our Karnataka Learning Partnership website.
Karnataka Learning Partnership as initiated in
the year 2005.
We are also conducting remedial interventions
for other subjects and we want to scale it up
to other schools across other districts beyond
Bangalore.
The program that I’m working
is the remedial intervention for math and reading
for the
In-school in Bangalore schools. Similar program
has been rolled out in the 11 districts across
Karnataka last year.
We want to bring all the program under one umbrella
working in partnership with the government called
Karnataka Learning Partnership.
