Ms. Manju Singh shares the projects along with impacts of Smile Foundation

Smile has few major programs wherein we are collaborating with various NGOs of the country in implementing these programs. So as far as the project management is concerned, the primary activities that we under take includes identification of the right kind of partners from different locations, involving them in a partnership through proper memorandum of understanding, continuous monitoring of the program and exciting from the program once the proper impact has been done.
Identification of different partners under each of these programs, we give out invitation across different locations through our web-site, internal network, through our other NGO partner. As a response to that we get invitations, applications which are either through the on-line application form that we have on our web-site or on specific application format that we give for different projects.

We have different procedure of selection of partners for different programs. All of them involve serious programs. Like identification, receiving of application from the partners, you do a desk appraisal, then you do a field appraisal, then you have sanctioned note being given to the partner and you sigh the memorandum of understanding with each of the partners. For facilitating all these steps we use technology. We have a management team at the head office as well as we have regional offices in 7 locations. There in we use our regional program people for doing the appraisal and understanding in detail about different partner organization.
Under different programs right now, we have currently 104 partners when out together. And we have four major programs running. Mission education, a basic education program; Smile e-learning program, a livelihood program for the youth; smile on wheels, smile medical units and action for children, basically a capacity building program through the NGOs.

We are measuring impact of our entire intervention basically through two ways. First thing is since we are working in many grassroots NGOs and one of our major agenda is to build a major capacity. We look at capacity from 2 perspectives. The number of grassroots NGOs we have been able to support and make them self-sustainable through our intervention. Second thing is the number of beneficiaries that we have been able to reach out. So I both these perspectives we measure these impacts. So in the mission education program we have been working with some very small grassroots level NGOs and we have been able to take them to a certain level that they have been self-sustainable. So we have quite a number of NGOs who we have been able to help. As far as the beneficiaries are concerned we have been able to directly impact more than 1 lakh children in youth in the last six years
