Adopt a Rare Bird
BNHS in partnership with BirdLife International and the Royal
Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB)have completed a 5 year
research study and found that India has 465 Important Bird Areas
(IBAs) of which 198 are outside the protected areas. In Asia,
324 species of birds are listed as globally threatened. This
is one-fourth of the globally threatened birds of the world
and the study reveals that the destruction of habitats is most
serious in the region, Asia. India alone has 8 critically endangered,
10 endangered, 57 vulnerable and 52 near threatened species.
Action on almost a war footing is required to save specific
species and their habitats. Hence to meet the dual objectives
of bringing awareness and raising funds to action the conservation
programme, M/s. Lowe Lintas has designed and executed a campaign
titled Adopt-A-Rare-Bird for BNHS.
We seek your support to make this campaign a success. We want
atleast 5000 adoptions, we have already received the first 100
adoptions and look forward to your support.
