Call to draft new Bill on education
The All India Forum For Right to Education (AIF-RTE), consisting of educationists, parents and other like-minded people, has demanded the repeal of the Right To Education (RTE) Act and has asked that public hearings be held at the district levels to draft a new bill on the principles of common neighbourhood school system that draws in children, including the disabled. Dr S.S. Rajagopalan, an eminent academician and a member of the AIF-RTE, said that the government has to ensure that every child is admitted to the nearest school.

Education : Keynote address by Prof Shantha Sinha
Prof. Sinha mentioned that access to school is not synonymous with quality of education. She pointed out that the problem today is learning outcomes, the quality of what children are learning, not numbers and names in attendance registers. The education system is challenged by demand. It is also a system that needs cleansing. Discrimination, gender prejudice, the unequal status of rich and poor, need to give way for the democratization of schools. Change is needed to enable universal access to quality education.

In India, getting urban children out of work and into school
1 February 2012: UNICEF correspondent Patricia Lone reports on a programme that helps Indian child labourers return to school.

Lives : 2 Miles Apart // School
For a long time, it has been assumed that those in rural areas have worse access to education but children living in poor urban neighborhoods are among the least likely to attend school. Maansi and Manisha live in the same neighborhood of Mumbai but only one of them goes to school. Find out why in '2 Lives:2 Miles Apart'.

2 Lives:2 Miles Apart is a series of films that highlights crucial issues impacting children in an urbanized world. "Children in Urban Areas" is the title of this year's "The State of the World's Children" report, released by UNICEF.

WHO WE ARE.mp4

National Anthem (Translation)
Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
Dispenser of India's destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Shindhu,
Gujarat and Maratha,
Of the Dravida and Orisa and Bangla;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is
chanted by the waves of the Indian Ocean.
They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise.
The saving of all people waits in thy hand,
Thou dispenser of India's destiny.
