	King Mswati III - King of Swaziland since 25 April 1986 Mswati III (born Makhosetive Dlamini on April 19, 1968 ) is the King of Swaziland and head of the Swazi Royal Family. In 1986, he succeeded his father Sobhuza II as ruler of the southern African kingdom. He is generally considered to be one of the last absolute monarchs in the world, as he has the authority to appoint the country's Prime Minister, members of the cabinet, and the judiciary.[2] However, he is bound to a certain degree by Swazi traditions and he does not have the authority to choose his heir. 	Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini - Prime Minister of Swaziland since 23 October 2008 Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini (born 15 May 1942) is Prime Minister of Swaziland. He was Prime Minister from 1996 to 2003 and has held the position again since October 2008. Dlamini was Minister of Finance from 1984 to 1993. He was also an executive director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).[1] From 1996 to 2003, he was Prime Minister, and in 2003 he became a member of King Mswati III's advisory council. Swaziland
Autonomy for the Swazis of southern Africa was guaranteed by the British in the late 19th century; independence was granted in 1968. Student and labor unrest during the 1990s pressured King MSWATI III, Africa's last absolute monarch, to grudgingly allow political reform and greater democracy, although he has backslid on these promises in recent years. A constitution came into effect in 2006, but the legal status of political parties remains unclear. The African United Democratic Party tried unsuccessfully to register as an official political party in mid 2006. Talks over the constitution broke down between the government and progressive groups in 2007. Swaziland recently surpassed Botswana as the country with the world's highest known HIV/AIDS prevalence rate.
