Interview with Naman Shah - Head, R&D - Sarvajal

Mr. Shah on participating the young villagers in the effort.

We originally started it as an operated outlet provided by the Piramal Foundation. The franchise part of this was never in our minds, we just realized this as a sustainable business. And we could spread it through out India as a social enterprise, leaving some impact.

As we started looking at the model, talking to other villagers we realized that there is quite a bit of potential for us to involve people at the village level and should really get them to sell water. If an outsider can sell waters successfully in villages to a certain extent, then someone from the village who is trusted and is known from that area will definitely make a credible increase in the amount of sales. And we will be able to get our water to go down market and into the household that we wanted to get through.
